Behind The Art

Thankful October – Artist In Residence – YEG Old House

October 2020 is my unforgettable month of this year.

Lately, I have received recognition for my artworks and having an opportunity to be the new and only artist in residence for 1 year in a beautiful Highlands neighborhood, McLuhan House Studio runs by Art Habitat Edmonton.

It is huge for me as an emerging visual artist, immigrant and a dream chaser.

The private 500 square feet self-care studio (Insulated garage) allows me to focus, concentrate on my main project- YEG (Edmonton) Old House in a mature neighborhood.

Redecorating the studio was my most exciting thing to do. How to bring the less item from my house and keep the home feeling of the st.

Thanks for Facebook Market and Kijiji I found 3 pieces of nice used furniture to keep the cost low for the studio. Of course, sanitizing and sanitizing after load the stuff in the studio ūüôā

I try to keep it minimalist and maintains the industrial feel that are really match with the garage.

Honestly, this is my 1st painting project ever focusing on a special theme rather than painting as my leisure pleasure.

It has always been my desire to use my bold impressionist style painting to transform those artistic old houses into an art form to promote and preserve part of the Edmonton residential history.

In this project, I plan to paint 12 pieces of various architecture style old Edmonton houses and will have solo exhibitions in next spring or summer at McLuhan House Studio.

How about you? Do you ever love old buildings and old architecture?

For me, taking pictures and browsing around the mature neighborhood is one of the best free activity to do at the weekend with my husband ūüôā

Past month I have done some custom old house drawing for affordable price.

Art Market Day in Stony Plain, AB

In end of September, it was a great experience to setup a outdoor booth to meet public in Stony Plain, around 30 km out of Edmonton.

It was a very nice sunny windy day with live jazz music, a local bakery, and selling only art and crafts. A very good way to promote artwork in this small special event.
