Aeris Osborne
Aeris is the 2022 Alberta Artist In Residence (AIR)/ Art Ambassador, the 3rd Alberta artist & 1st immigrant, 1st self-taught Alberta artist appointed by the Government of Alberta for this grant award since 2019. She has been painting for over 15 years and is known for painting bold impressionist heritage and landscape paintings, and Aeris’s husband, Gary Osborne, fully supports her ideas.
She is a self-taught visual artist & registered social worker in Alberta who moved from Hong Kong to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 2007. In 2022 Alberta Artist-in-Residence/ Art Ambassador Program, she traveled over 3000 km and visited over 30 Alberta galleries & museums to meet up with various people, from directors, curators, and staff to volunteers who support Alberta Arts.
“Alberta Old Buildings” is her 2022 Alberta AIR project and travel exhibit across Alberta from Edmonton, Calgary, to Red Deer. The project has received 14 media interviews from Alberta to Vancouver. In 2020, her 1st artist-in-residence art project, “YEG Old Houses” at McLuhan House artist studio in Highlands, was operated by Art Habitat Edmonton and awarded a 2021 Canada Council For The Arts grant. In 2023, Aeris’s “Colorful Travel Journey” series was selected by The Works International Visual Arts Society and converted into Alley of the Light Art Boxes, enlightening Edmonton’s downtown alley. Furthermore, she won twice a year in the Open Art Competition at the Allied Art Council in Spruce Grove. Also, she is the 2025 ICAI- Mentors In Residence, 2024 AFA Expert Panel- Visual Art, 2024 ArtsHub McLuhan House Garage Studio Program juror, 2023 Edmonton Art Council grant assessor & 2022 Juror of Strathcona Art Acquisition and Salon. Lately, Aeris has accepted art sector invitations to provide art workshops, webinars, seminars, and artist talks to the community members.
