Alberta Old Buildings With AR Experience Art Exhibition
Discover Alberta Old Buildings paintings series with AR created by Edmonton visual artist Aeris Osborne. All 20 pieces of artwork combined Arts, heritage, and technology.
This series was created during Alberta Artist In Residence in March 2022, 10 Alberta Old Buildings were selected between 1888 to 1921. To begin with, promoting rich Alberta history and various historical architectural styles to the public. Meanwhile, increasing awareness of the value of preserving historical buildings to continue Alberta‘s legacy. But also strengthening the belongingness relationship between individuals and the province of Alberta. – Read Full Artist Statement
Therefore, famous buildings included Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, Calgary Lougheed House, Edmonton’s Alberta Government House, Jasper Information Centre, Lake Agnes Tea Houses, other museums, a railway station other heritage sites.
In spring 2023, Aeris accommodated a technology Augmented Reality (AR) into her 20 pieces of artwork, ultimately unveiling her creative process video & research photos by simply scanning with the free downloadable app – Artivive.

Since early 2022, Aeris travelled over 3600km to research and meet up with the 10 Alberta Old Buildings’ owners, directors, curators, staff, and volunteers. Indeed, it allows her to better understand each building’s existing structure, history, and story to enrich the creation.
